Polish Yourself well to succeed
Things to work on before graduation
1. Spoken english
It is so sad that majority of
Nigerian students in tertiary
institutions don't bother about
polishing their spoken and written english. Some graduates speak english worse than a toddler, making one wonder what they spent 16yrs doing in school. You hear them spew gabbage like "he come and slap me and I come and beat him". If you speak such english to an interviewer,
even with first class clearly written on your CV, he will probably think you runzed your way through school.
The use of words like yeah, goddamn, omo, sh*t, f**k etc should be stopped cos they don't portray you as a decent person.
2. Mode of dressing
Looking fly on campus was one of the things I enjoyed during my
undergraduate days. It was fun cos you had so much of the opposite sex around to admire you. The moment I graduated, my orientation changed. Not that a graduate should stop wearing denims and sneakers, but sagging and putting on studs with crazy hairstyle should come to a stop if such a person wants to fit into the corporate world. In the corporate world, you get to mingle with matured or married men with enough decency. Sagging in their midst will
make you look kiddo. Just cos your favourite musician davido sags his trousers doesn't mean you should do the same. He gets paid to do that while you could get fired for doing the same.
3. Spendthrift attitude
The first time I heard someone say his salary is 70k, I hissed and
mocked him in my mind cos that was the same amount we students spent on phones just to oppress each other. Now I've seen people earning less
than 45k even with years of
experience. What kind of person do you think you'll turn out to be when all you want is the latest expensive gadgets? In the real world, no one cares about the kind of phone you use. Even on naija campus these days, girls have stopped falling for a
guy because of the phone he uses, they now trip for flashy cars. So, before you spend that huge amount on a phone, ask yourself this question: "is it going to improve my standard of living?". I didn't know I could turn my smart phone to a mini
laptop with WPS, Excel etc until I got employed. My phone was all about bbm, whatsapp and facebook. I now saw the full potential of the phone. You need to cut down on your spendings. Also, get the idea of clubbing off your mind or it might ruin your pockets. The money saved
from disciplining yourself can be
used to start something great. Use your head.

Episodes 4 & 5
It was 1st of April, my birthday. Bisi and some of the
sisters of NCCF came to my house to help in the cooking. The birthday was
fixed for 12pm, since we would be having choir practise by 5pm. We ate, drank and made merry. In fact, it was indeed a
memorable occasion. I really enjoyed myself.
Pastor Mrs Williams gave
a short exhortation. She titled d message Unique Grace, citing practical examples from her own life experiences. We were all blessed. Despite d short notice, I was so surprised to see that some
people still came with gifts. The most surprising one was the one
sent to me from Bode's mum. When Bode gave me the gift, I asked him how she knew because
I remembered I didn't tell her when I saw her in the market the previous day. He said he was the one that told her, and she
said "no wonder she came to buy many ingredients yesterday!"..She then rushed inside her room and came out with a pack of 4
glass cups. "Help me to wrap this and give it to her, tell her I
wish her long life and prosperity".

Episode 3
Daddy did not give me money that day. He was so crossed with me, it was mummy that gave me transport fare and a stipend which I managed till January allowance was paid. Thank God for the foodstuff I took with me from home, I would have learnt a wonderful lesson from hunger. On getting back to Oyan, Bode was still around because there
was nomoney for him to return to school. I told him what I went through because of him, and even then, I wasn't sure if my
dad would send me money again as usual, so i couldn't give him money.

Hear My Story!!!
Bode was the closest to me among all the choir members. I
could see in him, a younger brother I never had. My school was not so far to the church, so sometimes after
service or singing practise, he would say "Aunty Sewa, I'm
coming to your place to eat o". I would tell him to come, since I
really didn't know how to prepare one man meal, I was always having
leftover.
He was only 20yrs old then, while I was 24. He was a 200
level student of College of Education, Okene, and a native of Oyan where I was serving. When I first got to the church, his school was on break.
Before we could really get to know each other, his break was over, so
he went
back to school. About a month after he left, I saw him in church one sunday morning. And then the story of my life changed..

Episode 1
My name is Adesewa. I was raised by God-fearing parents who were blessed with six girls. My parents were deacon and deaconess in a pentecostal church. I happened to be their
third daughter, with three younger ones. I had my HND at Yaba college of technology and was posted to Kwara state for my youth service. I had given my life to Christ since my secondary school days, and I used to sing a lot, sometimes I even composed my
own song. I joined d church choir when i was just nine years old.

A man of Vision
What
is the difference between the man that lives for vision and the person that
lives without vision?
1.
The person of vision lives life to the full, which cannot be said of someone
without vision.
2.
A person of vision identifies his direction in life and lives a purposeful
life. While a person without vision is confused most of the time and can only
complain about how bad life is.
3.
A person of vision is surrounded by faithful workers, formidable teams, while without
vision there is nothing to gather the people around.
4.
A person of vision is a person of excellence, integrity and results which
cannot be said of a person without vision.
5.
It is easier for a person of vision to convince others to follow him than
people without vision.
PLEASE READ AND MEDITATE ON THEM..
1.
ON EARNING:
Never
depend on single income. Make investment to create a second chance.
2.
ON SPENDING:
If
you buy things you do not need, soon you will have to sell things you need.
3.
ON SAVINGS:
Do
not save what is left after spending, but spend what is left after saving.
4.
ON TAKING RISK:
Never
test the depth of a river with both feet.
5.
ON INVESTMENT:
Do
not put all eggs in one basket.
15 SET OF PEOPLE YOU MUST MEET..
1.The ENCOURAGERS - these people keep you going with
encouraging words even in discouraging situations of life; MAY YOU MEET THEM.
2.The HAND LIFTERS - like Aron and Hur, they are those whose
hands are strong enough to hold yours up when you are weak; MAY YOU MEET THEM.
3.DESTINY HELPERS - They provide shoulders upon which you
ride to fulfilling your dream and destiny; they are facilitators. MAY YOU MEET
THEM.
4.The GIVERS - these ones will give of their time, talent,
and treasure to help you realize your goals and to support you in your hour of
need; MAY YOU MEET THEM.
5.The RECEIVERS - these ones are different from routine
takers and serial beggars. You can’t
be blessed if you don’t give, and
you can’t give if there is no one to
receive. Not all lands bring forth fruits, and not all hands that receive
command blessings. You need those whose receiving hands will trigger abundant
blessings unto you; MAY YOU MEET THEM.

Read: Hebrews 12:1-2 (KJV)
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,

Bible in One Year: Matthew 16:5-18:35; Job 13:17-14:6
MESSAGE:
Human beings have been in search of the way back to their Maker since after the fall. The soul of man pants after the peace that only his Maker can provide. This is the reason man invented means of getting along with God in the name of religion. Unfortunately, man was unable to adequately reach out to his Maker until God in His mercies revealed Himself to us through His son Jesus Christ.
”9 And the LORD God called unto Adam, and said unto him, Where art thou? 10 And he said, I heard thy voice in the garden, and I was afraid, because I was naked; and I hid myself.” - Genesis 3:9-10
Adam was sent out of the Garden of Eden and he became a wanderer and a destitute of the peace that he once had with his Maker. After many dispensations, God decided to reveal part of Himself to some people who sincerely sought to know Him. He related to Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Moses and the prophets to mention just a few. They did not only benefit from God’s self-revelation, they also helped their generation by pointing them to the Almighty God. Yet, the perfect relationship was not in view then. When the fullness of time came, God became man and lived among men in the person of Jesus Christ. When one of the disciples asked Him to reveal God the Father to them, Jesus said:
“…Have I been so long time with you and yet hast thou not known me, Phillip? He that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou then, show us the father? Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the father in me?...” - John 14:9-10
Jesus Christ is the perfect revelation of God the Father. He came to reveal the father to us so that we may know how best to worship Him. It was through His teaching that we know that God is a spirit and whoever wants to worship Him must worship Him in spirit. He told us that unless we are born-again, we cannot see the Kingdom of God. Religious activities are exercise in futility without this experience. Not until He came, even Doctors of the Jewish religious laws were ignorant of these principles of God’s kingdom. Therefore we must always look unto Jesus for direction if we want to make it back to the One who created us in His image. Our text says to look up unto Jesus because He is the author and finisher of our faith.
I encourage someone reading this devotional to look unto Jesus for salvation, for deliverance, for healing, for material prosperity and eternal life.
Prayer Point: Jesus Christ my Saviour, I look unto You today, perfect everything concerning my life.
